★ ① 引用符を消す + that で繋ぐ: "I am tired" → that he was tired ★ ② 時制を1段階過去にずらす (backshift): 現在 → 過去 (am→was, eat→ate)、will → would、can → could、未来 → 過去未来 ★ ③ 人称代名詞を視点に合わせて変える: "I" → he/she、"you" → I/me、"my" → his/her

told は必ず 人 (誰に言ったか) を目的語に取る。said は人を取らない (said to ~ なら可)。

say / tell / speak / talk の使い分け (4級超重要) ━ ★ say (said) = 言う ━ "He said (that)..." / "He said hello to me." / 人を直接目的語に取らない (✗ said me) ★ tell (told) = 伝える ━ "He told me (that)..." / 必ず人の目的語が必要 ★ speak (spoke) = 話す (一方的に) ━ "He spoke to me about it." / 言語 "He speaks English." ★ talk (talked) = おしゃべりする (双方向) ━ "We talked about the movie." ★ 覚え方: tell に me がついていれば told、ついていなければ said。

Yes/No疑問の間接話法の3ステップ変換
★ ① 引用符を消し、asked (人) if/whether を入れる ★
② 疑問文の語順 (Do/Does/Did/Are/Is + S + V) を平叙文の語順 (S + V) に戻す
"Do you like" → "if I liked"。Do/Does/Did は消える ★ ③ 時制を backshift: "Do you like?" → "if I liked" (現在 → 過去)。if vs whether の違い: ほぼ同じ意味、whether のほうがフォーマル。会話では if、書き言葉では whether が多い。"whether or not" の形でも使える
