depend on / consist of / result in / refer to / cope with など、動詞ごとに決まった前置詞です。組みで覚えます。
ルール —動詞と前置詞は組みで決まっている
depend on（× depend of）/ consist of（〜から成る）/ result in（結果として〜になる）↔ result from（〜が原因で起きる）/ refer to（参照する・言及する）/ cope with（対処する）。
前置詞の後ろは名詞または動名詞です。
使い方 —result in と result from の向き
The accident resulted in two injuries.（事故 → けが）と The injuries resulted from the accident.（けが ← 事故）で因果の向きが逆です。
apply for a job（職に応募）↔ apply to a university（大学に出願）も使い分けます。
つまずきやすい所
○ depend on the weather
✗ depend of the weather
前置詞は on。
○ result in higher costs
✗ result from higher costs（結果の意味で）
in ＝ 結果、from ＝ 原因。
○ cope with the problem
✗ cope the problem
with が必要。
組みで覚え、result in / from の向きを間違えないことが要点です。
