plan / appointment / promise / schedule / cancel の5語。約束の言い方を区別します。
コア意味と使い方
plan は「計画」で plan to V / have plans（遊びの予定）。
appointment は「（診察・面談の）予約」で make an appointment。
promise は「約束（する）」で promise to V。
schedule は「予定表」、cancel は「取り消す」です。
使い分け —appointment と plans と reservation
appointment は人と会う約束（医者・先生）、plans は遊びの予定、reservation は席や部屋の予約です。
日本語ではすべて「予約・予定」なので、場面で選ぶ練習が必要です。
つまずきやすい所
○ I have plans with my friend.
✗ I have an appointment with my friend to play.
遊びの予定は plans。
○ I made an appointment with the dentist.
✗ I made a reservation with the dentist.
人と会う約束は appointment。
