💡Tip · 覚えるコツ

There is と It is の違い ―― There is = 存在「〜がある」(There is a book.)、It is = 状態「それは〜だ」(It is a book.)。日本語訳は似ているが英語では全く別構文。

「主語の数で be 動詞が変わる」 の英語の超基本ルール ―― 単数 (one, a, an) → is / 複数 (two, many, some + 複数形) → are。There're = There are の短縮形は会話で多用。

a と an の見分け ―― 後ろの単語の音で決める。発音が母音 [a/e/i/o/u音] → an、子音音 → a。apple は a 始まりだが発音 [æ] = 母音音 なので an apple が正解。
