準1級で頻出する間接話法を体系的に学びます。時制の一致、代名詞・時を表す語の変化、疑問文・命令文の伝達まで、複雑なルールを整理して使いこなせるようになります。
後退（backshift）の一覧
伝達動詞が過去なら、被伝達節の時制を一段後退させます。
現在 → 過去、過去 → 過去完了、will → would、can → could、may → might、must → had to。
時・場所の副詞も now → then、tomorrow → the next day、here → there、this → that と移します。
tell は目的語に人を取り、say は say to ＋ 人 の形にします。
使い方 —疑問の伝達と、後退しない場合
Yes / No 疑問は ask (＋ 人) ＋ if / whether ＋ 平叙語順。
疑問詞疑問は ask ＋ 疑問詞 ＋ 平叙語順で、do / did は使いません。
普遍の真理や今も有効な事実は後退させないこともあります（He said that water boils at 100°C.）。
命令の伝達は tell ＋ 人 ＋ to V、否定命令は tell ＋ 人 ＋ not to V です。
つまずきやすい所
○ He told me / He said to me that he was busy.
✗ He said me that he was busy.
say は人を直接目的語に取らない。
○ She asked me whether I had lived abroad.
✗ She asked me did I live abroad.
間接疑問は平叙語順で、do を使わない。
○ He told me he would return the money.
✗ He told me he will return the money.
伝達動詞が過去なら助動詞も後退。
話法は後退の一覧を機械的に適用します。say と tell の型、疑問の語順が減点箇所です。
