熱ではなく化学の被害
The corrosion is chemical, not thermal, and it advances inexorably regardless of whether a given patch of sea happens to feel pleasantly warm(腐食は熱ではなく化学的で、その海域が快適な水温かどうかに関わらず進む)。
溶けた CO2 が pH を下げ、殻や骨格に必要な炭酸イオンを枯渇させる。
酸性度が十分高ければ既存の殻は溶け始め、幼生は成熟前に死にます。
不可視性が軽視の原因
This imperceptibility is precisely why the threat is so easily marginalised. We legislate against what we can see and dramatise; we neglect … what unfolds silently in solution(見えて劇化できるものには立法し、溶液中で静かに進むものは放置する)。
