• discussion (議論), discussant (討論者), debatable (議論の余地ある)。discuss vs debate vs argue ――

• discuss=議論する (建設的、中立)

• debate=討論する (フォーマル、正式な議論)

• argue=言い争う (感情的、対立)

• dispute=論争する (法的、敵対的)。慣用句 ―― a topic worth discussing = 議論する価値のあるテーマ, be up for discussion = 議論の対象に上っている。

discuss は後ろに about を付けない (×discuss about ~)。discuss the problem のように直接目的語を続けるのが正しい形。
