間接話法 基本

3級で頻出する間接話法(報告文)を学びます。直接話法からの時制や代名詞の変化のルールを整理し、人の発言や質問を正確に伝える英語表現が身につきます。
ルール —伝達動詞が過去なら時制を1つ下げる
直接話法（"I am busy," he said.）を間接話法（He said that he was busy.）に変えるときは、伝えるほうの動詞が過去なので、中の動詞も1つ前の時制に下げます。
現在→過去、過去→過去完了、will→would が基本です。
that は省略できます。
使い方 —代名詞と時の副詞も入れ替える
話し手が変わるので I → he / she、my → his / her のように代名詞を変えます。
時の副詞も、話した時点から見た表現に直します（today → that day、yesterday → the day before、tomorrow → the next day）。
つまずきやすい所
○ She said that she was tired.
✗ She said that she is tired.
said が過去なので中の動詞も過去に下げる。
○ He told me that he was busy.
✗ He said me that he was busy.
「人に言う」は tell + 人。say は say to 人 の形をとる。
○ She asked me if I liked coffee.
✗ She asked me do I like coffee.
疑問文の伝達は if/whether＋〈主語＋動詞〉の語順にする。
間接話法は「時制を1つ下げる・代名詞を直す・時の副詞を直す」の3点セット。伝達動詞は tell と say の使い分けに注意します。
