3級でよく出る天気と自然に関する語彙を学びます。晴れ・雨・季節・自然現象などの基本単語を例文とともに習得し、会話や読解で天候や風景を表現できる力が身につきます。
コア意味と使い方
weather は「その日の天気」で不可算名詞。
climate は「（地域の長期的な）気候」です。
temperature は「気温」で、高い・低いは high / low を使います（hot / cold ではありません）。
sunny / cloudy / rainy / windy は -y が付いた形容詞で、It is 〜 の形で使います。
使い方 —天気をたずねる・答える
天気をたずねるときは How is the weather? / What is the weather like?、答えは It is sunny. のように it を主語にします（この it は「それ」と訳しません）。
気温は The temperature is 25 degrees. と degrees を使います。
つまずきやすい所
○ The temperature is high today. / It is hot today.
✗ The temperature is hot today.
気温は high / low で表す。hot は天気や体感に使う。
○ How is the weather today?
✗ How is the climate today?
その日の天気は weather。climate は地域の気候。
○ It is sunny today.
✗ Today is sunny weather.
天気は it を主語にした形が自然。
weather と climate、high/low と hot/cold の線引きが出題の核。天気は it を主語にする形で覚えます。
