however / nonetheless / therefore / consequently。接続副詞は品詞と句読点の規則が命です。
接続副詞は節をつなげない
however / therefore / nonetheless / consequently は副詞なので、2つの独立節をコンマ1つでつなぐと comma splice（誤り）になります。
セミコロンか句点で区切ります。
文中に置くときは両側をコンマで挟み（The plan, however, failed.）、助動詞と本動詞の間に挿入することもできます（We must, therefore, revise it.）。
therefore と consequently の差
therefore は論理的な帰結（前提から結論を導く）、consequently は時系列の因果（その結果こうなった）を強調します。
nonetheless は文末に置いて余韻を残せます（The result was disappointing, nonetheless.）。
書き言葉では however を文頭に置くより、主語の後に挿入するほうが流れが滑らかになります。
つまずきやすい所
○ It was risky; however, they approved it.
✗ It was risky, however, they approved it.
接続副詞は節をつなげない。
○ However difficult the task is …
✗ However, difficult the task is …
譲歩の however にコンマは入れない。
○ 時系列なら consequently
✗ therefore を時系列の因果に使う
論理と時系列を区別する。
品詞（副詞）と句読点の規則。これを外すと書き言葉として崩れます。
