so that ＋ 助動詞（目的）/ , so that（結果）/ in order that / so as to / so … that。同じ so that が2役をこなします。
目的か結果かは「コンマと助動詞」で決まる
so that ＋ S ＋ can / will / may は目的（〜するために）。
コンマ ＋ so that で助動詞がなければ結果（その結果〜）。
in order that は格式体の目的で may / might / should を伴います。
so as to ＋ 原形は同一主語の目的を簡潔に表し、so ＋ 形容詞・副詞 ＋ that は程度が生む結果です。
否定の目的と、主語の一致
目的の否定は so as not to V / in order not to V で、not は to の前。
so as to は主語が主節と同じときにしか使えません（別主語なら so that 節にする）。
so ＋ 形容詞 ＋ a ＋ 名詞 ＋ that（so rare a chance that …）という格式の語順も1級で問われます。

so の後ろに 冠詞 ＋ 名詞 は置けない。
