客観性の在処を移す
筆者は客観性を否定するのではなく、その所在を個人から共同体へ移します。
Objectivity … is not the property of any single mind purged of bias—an impossibility—but an emergent feature of communities governed by robust norms of criticism（偏りを除去した個人の性質ではなく、批判の規範に統治された共同体の創発的性質）。
個人の党派性は消えないが、公に説明責任を負わせる構造で抑えられる、という論です。
逆説として提示される結論
Paradoxically, then, science earns its credibility not by transcending the human standpoint but by organising a multiplicity of standpoints（人間的な視点を超越することではなく、複数の視点を組織することで信用を得る）。
したがって To concede the limits of objectivity is thus not to capitulate to relativism but to grasp … the conditions under which trustworthy knowledge becomes possible（限界を認めることは降伏ではなく、信頼できる知識が可能になる条件を把握すること）。
