準1級で問われる格式高いコロケーションを習得します。動詞+名詞、形容詞+前置詞などの定番の結びつきを学び、不自然さのない知的で洗練された英語表現が使えるようになります。
動詞と名詞の固定の組み合わせ
格式の高い英語では「意味が合う語」ではなく「決まった相手」を選びます。
pose は threat / risk / challenge / question とだけ結び、danger には present / pose のどちらも使えます。
draw は distinction / conclusion / comparison / parallel と結びます。
take … into account は目的語が長いと take into account … と語順が入れ替わります。
使い方 —語順と受動態
take … into account は目的語が短ければ take it into account、長ければ take into account the many factors that … と後ろに回します。
受動では be taken into account となり、報告書で頻出します。
come to terms with は「（つらい現実を）受け入れるまでに時間がかかる」という時間の含みがあるので、accept との違いはその過程の重さです。
つまずきやすい所
○ pose a threat to coastal cities
✗ make a threat to coastal cities（脅威をもたらす意味で）
make a threat は「脅迫する」。脅威の存在は pose。
○ take into account
✗ take in account
into で固定。
○ bear in mind that … / bear the deadline in mind
✗ bear in mind about the deadline
about は不要。that 節か目的語を直接取る。
格式のコロケーションは「決まった相手」を覚える暗記項目です。語順の入れ替えも型で押さえます。
