準1級で問われる重要文法項目を横断的に復習する総まとめ回です。仮定法・倒置・分詞構文・関係詞などの頻出ポイントを整理し、本番で迷わず解くための知識を一気に固められます。
5つの型と判定の合図
文頭が What で名詞節なら wh-cleft（What … needs is 〜）。
the ＋ 比較級が2回出れば比例の構文で、両方を節の先頭に前置します。
would rather の後ろに節が来たら動詞は仮定法過去（did / were）。
It was only after / not until … の後は that で受け、主語・目的語以外の副詞句も焦点にできます。
either / neither が主語なら動詞は近い方（B）に一致します。
使い方 —would rather の2つの形
would rather ＋ 原形は自分がしたいこと（I would rather stay home.）。
would rather ＋ S ＋ 仮定法過去は他人にしてほしいこと（I would rather you did not call so late.）。
後者は現在・未来のことでも過去形を使う点が要点です。
比例の構文は The harder you work, the more fluent you will become. のように、両方の節の先頭に the ＋ 比較級を置きます。
つまずきやすい所
○ I would rather you did not call so late.
✗ I would rather you don't call so late.
would rather ＋ 節は仮定法過去。
○ It was only after the war ended that the nation rebuilt.
✗ It was only after the war ended when the nation rebuilt.
分裂文は that で受ける。
○ The harder you work, the more fluent you become.
✗ Harder you work, more fluent you become.
比例の構文は両方に the が必要。
混合問題は「文頭の合図」で型を判定します。that と仮定法過去の2点が減点されやすい箇所です。
